Our Car/Travel cage

When we go for long journeys in the car, or stay away from home somewhere exciting like a holiday cottage, this is the cage we use.

As you can see, it has been modified, and now has the following additions:-

An alarm. This is a cable which can be threaded through the bars and then armed. If anyone cuts the cable the alarm goes off. Useful when we can not watch everything at PR events

Everything is fixed down. Because they are actually in this cage when we travel, the Litter tray, food bowl, and water are all fixed down. Also there is plenty of bedding, and a fleece blanket fixed across the base to give the ferrets something to grip on.

Legs built in. Attached to the base, are fold down, adjustable legs, which means that the cage is always the right height, and wobble free.

Carry handles. For some reason, the people who design these cages put a crummy plastic handles on the top. Not only is it easy to break these handles, but also the clips holding the base to the wire are also plastic. As all the weight is in the base, we would not want to rely on these sub standard handles to carry the cage. We have therefore added proper handles to the ends of the plastic base, to allow us to carry it to and from the car in saftey.
