The Lucky ones make it to a rescue.

When they come into a Rescue, they need to be checked over by a Vet. The bare minimum they will need, is neutering, the ticks removing, and many will need antibiotics. Unfortunately, a lot will require surgery.

Neutering will reduce the Ferret scent. Not only that, but with the worry of trying to find a mate, removed from the agenda, the ferret can learn to accept the company of us humans.

After a few weeks of love and attention, most will learn that there is no need to bite people, and in fact you get far more attention, by being nice.

Once the “rules of play” have been taught to the Ferret, and any Surgery has had a chance to heal, they are ready to be re-homed. This time, care will be taken. We want to know that you are going to look after them properly, you intend to give them a “forever home”, you have proper “ferret-Proof” housing, and know what to feed them on. That‘s just for a starter, there is a lot to learn before you get a pet ferret, and we will want to know you have looked into all this as well.
